Michela Bufalini is a special artist. She comes from an advertising graphics background but her love for art and painting have inevitably led her to various artistic experimentations. Her meeting with a very special stone during a walk in the countryside marks her artistic destiny forever and, from that moment on, converts her to a creative passion for stones.
The most important stage is the search for stones and Michela collects them a little everywhere with great care, explaining that each place offers different stones:
“Some stones are so beautiful in nature that, out of respect, I limit myself to cleaning them in a way that highlights their natural streaks and colours. I colour trivial stones with little personality to maximize them.”
These are then washed and sun-dried, to be painted and assembled with a totally original technique which the artist jealously guards. Michela works intuitively, she doesn’t stick to patterns or make sketches, she lets herself be inspired by the stones, with which she has an instinctive relationship. She calls them “timid elements with a soul and their own well-hidden personalities”.
Besides stones, which are naturally the key element, Michela sometimes uses other materials which serve to enrich her compositions. These include wood, small branches, pieces of glass, plastic, cardboard, tin, copper, mixtures of soils. Once assembled, these elements work together magically, giving harmony to the composition. They invite the observer to take a poetic view of life.
